Richard
INTRIGUE for you:
I have just completed the branding for launch of my online TV channel.
To help us ‘get in the flow’ we deconstructed ‘Virgin’ as an exercise to discover how it as a brand could be extended across so many different sectors. (Not normally possible with brands.) The secret took quite a while to discover, but once we had it, it was BLINDINGLY obvious:
VIRGIN = Rebel / Rebellion. (Right?)
This was perfectly expressed for example on the aircraft I saw a few years back with ‘No Way BA’ emblazoned on the fuselage!
Greatly looking forward to more comms from you on Twitter.
Best wishes

Reading “Business Stripped Bare” now - found it at an airport bookstore while traveling home from a customer install. I picked this book up and put it down so many times, I finally realized it was calling out for me to buy it. I finally relented having read one article about Virgin while at another airport a few years ago. Other than that, being a blind US’er I guess, I’ve not heard much about Virgin or Mr. Branson.
Reading the book, I realized why I needed to read it. His concept of the Virgin brand is exactly how I’ve been trying to build my business. I’ve been told it won’t work (my “customer first no matter what” attitude) and that dollars should be my main focus. I was just about to give up, several times actually over the years, and then reading the first two chapters gave me renewed drive - IT CAN BE DONE!
Seeing what he and his company do for their customers, and for the world — I’m now a proud follower of any post about Sir Richard and Virgin. I can’t wait to fly on a Virgin flight now…!
And now seeing how he treats those who enjoy learning from him (ie twitter followers), I’m… well… just thankful.
Thanks for listening :)

Dear Richard, Sir Richard..
In every way I’ve heard from you, I always had the feeling that you are typically one of those who never take no for an answer and always do where there heart starts beating faster from.. with Love, with Passion, with Desire and mainly the desire to overflow yourself..
You my dear Richard make a perfect example from what Earl Nightingale would subscribe as: Success is a Progressive Realisation of a Worthy Ideal..
You Radiate Love for what you are doing, Love for those are in your reality.. You really Catch the Point!! Would love to have a good conversation with you one day.. ;-) I guess we’d dropdead gorgeous of good laughs all over the place!
Wishing you Another Wonderful Day, a Day Full of Wonders!
Love, Light & a Lot of Laughter

Am I the only one that thinks Jade got ripped off? I mean come on, Sir Richard is like the 230th richest man in the world and he gives her a poster! I’ve received better twitter gifts from the mommy bloggers!
Still think you are a cool guy and an awesome businessman but PLEASE!
Kerry Anne Orr - December 18th, 2008
The 13th comment and a slightly contentious one too!
@Kate, how is being given something you didn’t ask for being ripped off? It’s not all about the money you know!
Learn, Earn & be grateful ;o)

Hi Richard
I read in a magazine article about you that you are Dyslexic. My seven year old son has the same learning disability. He is a great kid and I think, very smart but he is consistently bottom of the class and not enjoying school. He is angry, frustrated and sick of his teachers yelling at him.
I feel desperately sorry for him but I dont know how to help him. Being my only son I naturally want him to do well in life, I am trying to encourage him but he just doesnt want to learn the way the school wants him to.
I know lots of people ask you for business advice but I am just asking for any advice you may have that helped you get thru the schooling system when you were young.
I apologise if this is the wrong forum to be asking for this type of advice but I made a promise to my wife and son that if someone as famous as yourself can rise above this affliction then so can my son.

Hi Ross
You might want to listen to Richard’s podcasts of Losing My Virginity where he talks about overcoming dyslexia while at school.

These are just highlights - it’s covered in more detail in the actual book:

Take a look at book called “Toe by Toe” (On Amazon) - absolutely brilliant. My seven year old and I worked through most of it and her reading and writing has improved dramatically. (I have nothing to do with it other than as a very happy customer)
