Add your name to the Every Human Has Rights pledge

Following up on Richard’s recent post about Entrepreneurs and leadership, I think one of the most exciting initiatives supported by Richard and Virgin Unite under this banner has been The Elders. This esteemed group of global leaders, headed by Nelson Mandela, Graça Machel and Desmond Tutu, are contributing their wisdom, independent leadership and integrity to tackle some of the world’s toughest problems.

Today marks the 60th anniversary of the signing of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. To celebrate and support the goals of the Universal Declaration, the Elders have launched the Every Human Has Rights campaign in partnership with a number of international organizations. Please check out the video and add your name to a pledge in support of the Universal Declaration at www.everyhumanhasrights.org. You can also read profiles of activists around the world who are working to realise human rights in their communities.

Thank you for sharing this. As I look forward to the holidays and time spent with family, I count my blessings. One of them is to live in a great country where we all have rights. As messed up as things are with our economy, etc. (I was laid off a few weeks ago like so many of us) we do still have our freedom. Every human being should share the same rights to freedom, safety, dignity and education. Please share this video and declaration with others. Together we can make this world better for all of us and the time to act is now.

    Dear Richard,

I signed the Declaration because I feel that we Are One, As One IS All, All IS One..

Everything with a Soul should be recognized as same as me, you and us..

We All need Oxygen on this Planet, we were All Born Naked (proof me the person who came on earth in a suit, LOL), we all had a father and a mother that created our body together, we all want to be loved, we all have desires, dreams and our own clumbsyness defaults..

We are all Expressions from Energy..coming from an Infinite Creative Intelligence as my mentor Bob Proctor would name it..

How on Earth can we think we are different from each other?

So with all intention I signed the so maniest declaration with a wonderful intention.. But, there’s always a but.. What are we going to undertake to make is a real movement, visible and in 3D?

Who’s with me? What can we do to make a HUGE STATEMENT??

I mean.. There IS Something Really Beautiful Going on over the Entire Planet.. Despite some peoples fear and anxiety regarding a financial crisis.. Something else is happening..

You see, I know many people (and I guess and hope that you feel it the same way) all around the world, from East to West, from North to South, from All Walks Of Life, Grown Up in All Different kinds of Religion & Culture..

And you know.. All these people Feel the Same, Think the Same regarding our worldwide society.. There IS a Vibe Hanging in the Air!!

Thank You for Being a Part of My Reality!

Love, Light & a Lot of Laughter
    Hilde

I applaud Sir Richard Branson and the Elders for taking on such a vital issue, and it is an honour to stand with them. Our world is changing profoundly, but some things must remain constant.

No matter your beliefs, religion, color of skin, or status we are all human beings and we need to treat each other better and help our fellow man. One person really can make a difference. Peace and love =)

The core value of life is simply to be given the chance to reach our potential while being born with equal freedom and rights. All the best, always, to Richard and team!-cblueman

Fantastic video! All humans should have the same rights.

    No doubt.

No one person is better than the other, though in this world we live, there are plenty of poor souls who think they are better than others.

You know..The Big heads, ego driven, I’m better than you people, rid them and the world would be a better place!!

I’m human, I breathe, I sleep, eat, excrete, work, play, seek love and things to do.

But, society treats me different, because I’m different, but I keep striving to do more, hard and better, constantly trying to improve all that I see and analyze.

Because of this, Going to a place full of executives and being in room full of people who decide whether your worth it or not annoys me.

I have plans, I have goals, I want to serve for that is who I am and what I do.

I want to change the world, hopefully for the good, but it needs to be in good hands. Richard, If your reading this, I make a plea to you, “All things are never what they appear to be”

    I have something.

I just hope, your the right person to bring it alive.

Excellent initiative, it is completely in line with our own agenda for 2009 and beyond: following Gandhi’s philosophy that “You have to be the change you want to see in the world”, our primary objective is to contribute to the edification of a world that is more at peace, where the beauty and diversity of humanity is celebrated everyday instead of being feared.
    In dynamic peace,

As I add my name to this list I’m so mindful of the fact that as I helplessly watch Zimbabwe become another Somalia, I can no longer kid myself that govts and the powers-that-be believe in the human rights principle. I wish as individuals we had more power but I fear we will have less and less as the fight for wealth, water and oil intensify. Nevertheless I’m so grateful for the oppotunity to spend this Christmas with my family.
    I pray for peace.

Security, clean water, food, education, healthcare. Until everyone has these, there is no justice.

Really are you people all on happy tablets.

Human rights…oh please. What twaddle, yes walking around Oxford University in the summer taking a course in in, in a little quiet place on earth is the perfect place for this crap.

And for three Africian leaders to be involved is well lets been honest here a way to stay in the limelight.

There is NO, and never will be any such thing as human rights. It really is a simple as that.

And if you think there are, tell it to the Chinese, tell it to the Ethopians who are again (I think this make’s 30 years on the trot) that are starving, tell it to the zimbo’s who are eating carpets!

Tell it to everyone who is sleeping on the streets tonight.

Tell it mainly to these hiprocrites who have millions even billions, who export jobs to low paid workers, who dont care as long as they’re alright Jack.

    Well Richard and Virgin

We will together ‘make poverty history’ and stop the tragedy of people dying from preventable disease. As I believe Bono has said “this is not a cause, this is an emergency.”

People like you and your colleagues are leading by example.

    Best wishes
    Ian

These initiatives on human rights by Richard Branson and followers appear to me as an undisputably fresh (and welcome) approach to such a manipulated set of concepts as those pertaining to the term, according to by whom and where in the world it is raised. So good to see-in the presentations- several great leaders on the issue of HRs explicit about an understanding, friendly and supporting position towards the initiative. As I also do like it, please do get my humble support…and let´s help spread the word all around the world…do keep us acquainted about advances and better, when the timing becomes appropriate let us come on board. To share and work together in our part of the world. All the Best,

I agree with Peter Scott 100%.
